ZTE Clinches Colombian EmCali's WiMAX Equipment Deal

China-based ZTE announced on August 19 that it has won a 3.5GHz 802.16e WiMAX equipment supply deal from Colombian operator EmCali, according to a report by China Daily.

EmCali is a municipally-owned telecom based in the city of Cali, and the company holds a license for WiMAX operations in Cali and the Popayan region. As per the terms of the deal, ZTE will supply core network equipment, wireless access equipment, and indoor and outdoor terminals to EmCali, which is required to launch commercial WiMAX services by year-end 2008.
